We have lived in this beautiful valley for 10 years. Our kids are recent graduates of Mount Si High School (2008 and 2010) and are both students at the University of Washington in the Foster School of Business.
My education and work experience is in executive management and financial auditing. I am delighted to put that experience to work here in Snoqualmie Valley’s schools and community.
Local Experience: I currently serve as Treasurer on the Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and I am an active member of the City of Snoqualmie Economic Development Commission. From 2002 to 2010, I served as a Board Member and then as Vice President and President of the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation and helped raise over $350,000 of funding to put to use in our schools. From 2006 to 2010, I served on the Learning Improvement Team at Mount Si High School. In 2006 and 2007, I worked on the first Facilities Task Force in the district. I also enjoyed supporting music education in our middle and high schools through my work as a Music Booster and in organizing many fundraisers.
In 2009, I was honored with the Golden Acorn Award from the PTSA Council for my service to the education community. Also, in 2009, on behalf of the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation, I accepted the Certificate of Merit from the Washington Association of School Administrators in recognition of outstanding community leadership and service to education and the young people of Washington.
Education and Work Experience: My undergraduate experience started with studying engineering at the University of Southern California and ended at San Diego State University from which I graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Business Administration/Accounting. I am a CPA (inactive) and I worked for Ernst & Young (EY) in San Diego for most of 13 years. Some of that time I spent in senior financial management at a large bank, but I went back to EY after encouraging them to start a part-time (or less than full/over time program) when we started having children. My clients included the golf (Cobra clubs, Odyssey putters), biotech, and banking industries, and I specialized in SEC reporting companies. I also enjoyed teaching classes nationally for EY in auditing and accounting.
When our children were just starting school, I left this career to focus full-time on being a mom and to use my work experience to volunteer in schools and the community. I’ve been doing so for over 15 years.
